Trauma Lab Updates and Version History

Trauma Lab is in active development and updates arrive unusually fast — the game went from v1.06 at launch to v1.19 within two days of release. This page collects the version history with a little context for each step. The full patch notes live inside the game itself (menu → Patch notes); this page is the readable overview. Last updated 2026-10-23.

Version history

v1.19 — Story mode rebuilt

The biggest recent change: Story mode was rebuilt into three rooms with a guard, cover and a sentry gun. You can turn around, shoot lying down and take cover behind crates, and birdshot was made realistic. Story remains a work in progress — new builds reach Supporters and Discord playtesters first, while the free build shows a teaser.

v1.18 — Hit label option

A smaller quality-of-life update: an option to turn the hit label on or off, for players who prefer a cleaner screen.

v1.17 — Classic HUD and phone performance

The classic HUD was restored after the redesign, and this version shipped a big performance fix for phones — relevant if the game lagged for you on mobile before.

v1.16 — Redesign

A visual overhaul: a new look for the test subject, a new phone HUD, relit scenes and new weapon art.

v1.15 — The real test chamber

Added a proper test chamber scene, lighting that plays across the body, and a cleaner screen layout.

v1.11–v1.14 — First Story prototype

The first Story mode prototype appeared in this stretch, along with movement and cover — the foundation that v1.19 rebuilt into the current three-room version.

v1.0 — Menu and aim fixes

The first numbered release fixed menus and aiming. Earlier milestones on the way to 1.0 included Keep Him Alive with real emergencies, the Complex surgery mode, and the Chemistry & Regeneration update.

Where Story mode stands

Story mode is still in development. What exists today is a prototype: three rooms, guards, cover and a sentry gun. New Story builds go to Supporters and Discord playtesters first; the free public build shows a teaser of it. There is no announced date for a finished Story mode.

Steam status

There is no Steam store page or wishlist yet, and no release date has been announced. The developer says that everyone who becomes a $5 Supporter will receive a Steam key when the game launches on Steam — so supporting now covers a future Steam copy as well.

How to follow updates

Patch notes appear in the game's own menu, the newest files are always on the official page, and Supporters get new builds first. The game's Discord server runs playtest sign-ups in the #playtest-signup channel, with testers picked in waves — playtesting is free. The homepage also keeps a short “Latest Update” section for the newest version, and this changelog is refreshed whenever a new build lands.
